Moon and tides

If you live by the shore, you experience the affects of the Moon every day through tides. Tides are the alternating patterns of rising and falling sea levels with respect to land. The gravity of the sun and in particular the Moon creates this effect on Earth. The Moon can’t escape the effects of Earth either. While maintaining a synchronous orbit over eons, a noticeable 60-foot bulge has been created on the side facing Earth. This causes the Moon to be slightly lop-sighted in its profile.
